Re: Graduate Software Engineer, Frameworks 2027

Dear Graphcore hiring team,

Graphcore’s Frameworks team connects your accelerators with PyTorch and Triton, which is exactly the layer of the stack I want to start my career in. I am applying for the Graduate Software Engineer, Frameworks 2027 role in Bristol.

For my final-year project at the University of Bristol I wrote a custom PyTorch operator in C++ for block-sparse attention, with Python bindings, unit tests and documentation. On my benchmarks it ran 2.3 times faster than the reference implementation, and two researchers in my group now use it in their experiments.

Last summer I interned with a Cambridge semiconductor start-up, profiling compiler output for machine learning kernels. I wrote Python tooling that compared runs automatically, cutting a manual afternoon of checks to a few minutes. Daily code review there taught me to keep changes small, readable and well tested.

I enjoy turning review feedback into better code, and I would bring that habit to the team’s short Scrum cycles.
